One of JKJ’s specialties is providing services to international clients. JKJ&H International is an American and German joint venture providing services to German and American companies.
As a result of that focus, I perform the role of an International Desk Manager which coordinates the placement, evaluation and compliance of insurance policies covering global companies. Our company is affiliated with UNiBA Risk Partners, an international insurance broker group working together for the benefit of clients and their subsidiaries globally in over 130 countries.
Part of our participation in the UNiBA network is that the International Desk Managers of the partners meet, discuss and learn about the technical aspects of international insurance. In June, this summer, I was in Zurich, Switzerland attending the UNiBA Risk Partners International Desk Managers meeting. As a participant in a group of about 40, from 29 countries, we enjoyed the facilities of Zurich Insurance Group’s global Development Center.
The 3 day conference keyed to using and learning how Zürich Insurance Group’s (ZIG) proprietary system can provide the necessary information for developing and maintaining a global insurance program adhering to the tax and regulatory mandates country to country.
In recent years, understanding as well as maneuvering the compliance requirements and issues has become a bigger topic. Even prior to attending the conference, it is well known that the US litigation arena is more complex than other countries globally. The ZIG system has been programmed to allow a user to input the home country and country of subsidiaries with the results showing how an insurance portfolio, policy by policy, can be structured with the confines of compliance.
The main focus during the 3 day conference was compliance of insurance portfolios. Over the 3 day conference, the other planned activities and events allowed the group to know one another better and ultimately offer our clients a greater level of knowledge as their insurance and risk management partners.
Other questions or inquiries about compliance and your insurance portfolio, please feel free to contact a JKJ&H team member.
